Bench Sponsors the Shakedown Project

In keeping with the brand’s urban lifestyle image, Bench sponsored the fifth Shakedown Project event held in Preston on 24th October.

The first Shakedown event was held in 2004, in Preston, when a small group of local artist’s felt that the creative urban scene in that city had gone unknown for too long. Shakedown aims to showcase the talent of local and nationwide graffiti artists and writers to the general public, allowing them to see for themselves what it takes to make such creative pieces of street art.

A number of high profile artists from around the country were present, including the mighty N.S.A crew, Moot (a Preston local and founder of the project), and KaK One (from Cambridge). The event’s vast doodle area gave passers-by and budding young street artists a chance to try their hand.

Given Bench’s origins and accolades, their association with this event is not surprising. Bench started out in Manchester in the late 1980s as a niche T-shirt brand inspired by BMX biking and the world of skate boarding. Since their humble beginnings in Manchester, Bench is now distributed throughout Europe, USA, Canada and Australia.

Bench has developed into a highly respected urban lifestyle brand that was named the coolest street wear brand by the 2007/2008 CoolBrands panel. Bench watches are an integral part of the brand’s image.
