Donna Karan, founder of the popular designer label DKNY, is well known for her philanthropy. Karan’s Urban Zen Initiative, founded in 2007, is the culmination of her philanthropic efforts, “I have founded the Urban Zen Initiative to create a working structure for advancing wellness, preserving culture and empowering children. These are the causes that mean the world to me.”
Last week, Thursday 29 October, DKNY’s flagship store in London co-hosted with the Multiple Sclerosis Society a book launch at the Old Bond Street shop. The book, Awkward Bitch: My Life with MS, was written by Marlo Donato Parmelee, DKNY’s UK Support Manager.
According to the MS Society, MS currently affects around 100,000 people in the UK. Marlo Donato Parmelee’s book is a candid, humorous and inspirational memoir chronicling her personal story building up to her MS diagnosis in 2004 when she was only 32, and subsequently her learning to live with MS.
Of course the book was on sale at the launch party, with 10% of the proceeds from each sale donated to the MS Society. Guests to the exclusive party alos had the opportunity to purchase DKNY watches and clothes at a for-the-night-only 10% discount. DKNY then generously donated 10% of all the sales that evening to the MS Society.
A great selection of DKNY watches for both ladies and gents are available at The Watch Department in London.

DKNY is a great brand. Your blog is great!
